Overview

The Account Manager serves as the primary customer-facing representative for assigned accounts and acts as the "Face of Yusen Logistics" to the client. This role is responsible for developing strategic customer relationships, ensuring exceptional service delivery, driving account growth, managing commercial negotiations, and maintaining overall account profitability. The Account Manager partners closely with Operations and cross-functional teams to deliver customer solutions, identify growth opportunities, and support long-term customer retention.

Responsibilities

Customer Relationship Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact and trusted advisor for assigned customers.
  • Represent Yusen professionally and proactively in all customer interactions.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with customer stakeholders at all organizational levels.
  • Drive customer engagement initiatives to enhance customer satisfaction, loyalty, and retention.

 

Account Management & Business Development

  • Develop a thorough understanding of customers' business operations, supply chains, logistics requirements, key business drivers, and decision-making processes.
  • Analyze customer logistics flows, transportation spend, and strategic partnerships to identify opportunities for growth.
  • Create and maintain account development plans that align customer needs with Yusen's capabilities.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities for additional services, business expansion, and revenue growth within existing accounts.

 

Service Delivery & Customer Satisfaction

  • Collaborate closely with Operations teams to ensure seamless service execution and customer satisfaction.
  • Monitor service performance and proactively address operational challenges.
  • Escalate and resolve customer issues while driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Act as the voice of the customer internally to ensure customer expectations are understood and met.

 

Commercial Management

  • Lead customer rate discussions, pricing reviews, and contract negotiations.
  • Support contract renewals and commercial agreements to ensure profitable and sustainable business relationships.
  • Balance customer requirements with company financial objectives.

 

Business Reviews & Reporting

  • Lead customer meetings, Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs), and operational review meetings.
  • Prepare and present performance metrics, operational reports, and business analyses.
  • Develop actionable recommendations based on customer performance data and industry trends.
  • Communicate business results and account performance to both customers and internal leadership.

 

Financial Analysis & Risk Management

  • Analyze account financial performance, profitability, and revenue trends.
  • Identify commercial, operational, and financial risks within customer accounts.
  • Develop and implement corrective actions and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Monitor account health and recommend initiatives to improve profitability and performance.

 

Internal Collaboration & Leadership

  • Coordinate cross-functional efforts among Operations, Sales, Finance and other departments.
  • Lead internal account review meetings and provide updates on customer performance and strategic initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate account forecasts, business plans, and reporting documentation.
  • Support strategic planning and decision-making processes related to customer accounts.

  • Thorough understanding of logistics and supply chain operations.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation abilities.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen.
  • Analytical problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
  • Ability to influence cross-functional teams without direct authority.
  • Experience conducting business reviews and executive-level presentations.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Can-do attitude
  • Proficiency with CRM systems, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and reporting tools.
