Overview

Salary Range: $59,200-$94,062

 

The Ocean Import Trade Analyst position works closely with the Ocean Procurement and Pricing Manager to keep the Yusen Ocean product competitive and relevant in a fast paced and competitive landscape. The main responsibility of the position is to create and communicate understanding of market dynamics including pricing, supply & demand, exogenous and endogenous shocks to global trade and world events which affect the overall supply chain as well as support the ocean team’s import functions and pricing capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Perform admin tasks on the TPEB tradelane
    • Create daily net buying rate guidelines
    • Approve filing and maintain proper storage of TPEB and other relevant import contracts
    • Communicate and properly store carrier announcements related to US import trades
  • Generate reports relevant to ocean import cargo
    • Volume trends in the general market
    • Key account info from Panjiva / Datamyne / JOC
  • Work with global ocean teams as needed for operational escalation of ocean import flows
  • Along with the OFF Director, develop/maintain relationships with key SSL vendor partners
    • Perform day to day spot rate negotiations with SSL vendor partners
    • Provide day to day TPEB rate feedback
  • Complete research tasks and generate relevant reports
    • Contribute to the OFF monthly market update file
    • Generate first draft on monthly financial and volume forecast
  • Complete all pricing duties associated with TPEB and USA destination tasks
    • Price TPEB lanes in all RFQs
    • Set Monthly SSR for TPEB lanes
    • Provide pricing instruction to quote desk as necessary
    • Manage PSS & quarterly BUC updates
  • Assist with various ocean freight projects as needed
  • Manage the quote desk team to ensure timely and accurate quotations
  • Support operations as necessary to ensure smooth transit of cargo

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, economics, or related field preferred
  • 4-6 years of freight forwarding experience required
  • 2-4 years of ocean/air freight procurement or pricing experience required
  • Previous ocean freight procurement or pricing experience a plus
  • Strong quantitative and analytical abilities
  • Ability to analyze and develop efficient processes
  • Mastery of intermediate Excel (VLookup, PivotTable, etc.)
  • Fluency in a 2nd language is a plus
