Overview

The Operations Manager is part of the Supply Chain Solutions Group and is responsible for leading a team that manages and executes transportation services, with a focus on parcel as a mode of transportation, on behalf of our clients. The SCS manager is also responsible for maintaining the relationship with assigned clients, and ensuring services are delivered to their satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Has an in depth understanding of parcel providers operational models and act as a subject matter expect for related new implementations and process improvements
  • Familiar with the technology landscape supporting parcel shipment management and how it can be used to support our clients needs
  • Understands the various commercial models, rate structures, and financial settlement activity for parcel in the market and specifics of the set up for assigned clients
  • Proactively manage customer relationship with assigned accounts, host operations performance reviews, demonstrate value delivered by Yusen services.
  • Have a clear understanding of customer service requirements and processes, as well as commercial pricing arrangements
  • Serve as a point of escalation, address service issues, and report on overall account performance
  • Resolves customer matters at early stages, and understands when to escalate a customer concern to management.
  • monitor revenue, gross profit, and operational profit of assigned account(s), ensure accounts remain profitable and in line with annual targets
  • Maintain standard internal operating procedures, establish clear roles and responsibilities within the team.
  • Monitor key performance measurements of service and efficiency, drive improvements projects and Kaizen.
  • Train, assign, and delegate workload to the team. Drive continuous cross training and process depth.
  • Demonstrates a concerted drive toward results and meeting operational KPIs as communicated by management.
  • Oversee and supervise all day to day operations of the assigned team, address complaints, and resolve problems.
  • Motivate and set daily pace for team members.
  • Conduct performance reviews and make recommendations on corrective action, as well as hiring or termination recommendations
  • Is receptive to new ideas and different approaches to the work at hand and drive the same mentality across the team. (change management)
  • Manipulate large amounts of data accurately with tight deadlines in a high stress environment.
  • Must have full understanding of operational day to day processes and perform them as needed
  • Support sales efforts to new or existing customers by demostrating technical process knowledge and high quality standard operations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree strongly preferred
  • Five to seven years’ experience in supply chain / logistics / transportation Account Management, Customer Service, Inside Sales/Sales Support, Operations, or related functions, required
  • Three years of direct experience with parcel as a mode of transportation required
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Supervisory/management experience preferred
  • Ability to drive long distances and/or travel overnight as required.
  • Ability to receive and understand direction from supervision and management
