Salary

$105,628 - $185,582 per year

 

The GM of Transportation is responsible for the execution and proper daily management of all phases of transportation services for CLG, which includes port drayage, yard operations, gate staff and off site yard management.

Responsibilities

  • Delivers quality transportation services to internal warehouse customers by effectively managing a fleet of yard trucks.
  • Hire, train and mentor yard drivers at CLG yards.
  • Maintain a fleet of yard trucks.
  • Manage and oversee the gate staff at CLG warehouses.
  • Dispatch oversight for port drayage.
  • Conduct yard capacity planning when dispatching daily
  • Communicate with customers for on site and off site yard needs
  • Manage financials associated with yard operations.
  • Create partnerships with dray and shuttle carriers.
  • Oversee dispatch and customer service staff.
  • Maintain an accurate yard inventory through frequent audits and regular cycle counts.
  • Participate in RFP’s by mode.
  • Manages operations in a cost-efficient manner and reviews financial reports to find opportunities for further cost savings.
  • Supervises multiple employees in addition to own duties/responsibilities.
  • Performs performance reviews, disciplinary actions and makes hiring and firing decisions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) from four-year college or university highly preferred; seven years related experience at management level, in logistics; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
