Position Summary
The Dispatch Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the work of dispatchers. The Supervisor ensures timely coordination and inland dispatch of ocean and airfreight shipments for delivery to customers. This Import Department position is also responsible for verifying completeness of documents accompanying the shipments and proactively communicating shipment and delivery status to ensure a clear and steady work flow.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises Dispatchers. Carries out supervisory responsibilities according to the organization's management policies, procedures and any applicable laws. Responsibilities include determining staffing needs , hiring and training, planning and assigning daily work, providing on going feedback , conducting performance appraisals, addressing performance issues and resolving problems
Education and Experience
Associated degree preferred plus minimum of 3 year related experience in transportation, logistics; freight forwarding or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be teachable and eager to learn.
