Overview

Position Summary

The Senior Sales Executive is responsible for selling and matching Yusen Logistics Americas solutions for local accounts within an assigned territory and maintaining and expanding service offerings within new and existing accounts. This position is located in a branch office of the International Freight Forwarding (IFF) Group. The position works with the branch operations, the product teams, and the Sales Coordinator to achieve revenue generation, account management, and customer satisfaction goals for assigned middle and large size accounts.

Job Responsibilities

New business development:

  • Develop and Hunt new business opportunities through research, prospecting, and qualifying new opportunities. This will include customer visits and developing relationships within the defined geographical area or market.
  • Focus activity on accounts within the mid to large size customer group with an annual gross profit between $50,000-$200,000. This includes on-boarding 3-8 new clients per year, maintaining an active pipeline of 25 customers within this range with a heavy focus on prospective clients that align with Yusens Logitcis targeted industry verticals.
  • Increase market share by closing new business and on-boarding new customers within assigned national territory while achieving assigned financial budget for volume, revenue, and profit.
  • Prepare and present proposals, recommend new services, extensions, or enhancements, and overcome objections to closure.
  • Work collaboratively on push/pull sales leads with international offices.
  • Expected to meet Sales Targets assigned by management.

 

Maintain and develop existing accounts:

  • Increase market share within the existing and inactive customer base.
  • Support any transportation issues by acting as liaison between operations and client.
  • Work with existing customers on service proposals, rate quotations, and air/ocean transportation schedules for new destinations. Manage ad hoc pricing requests.
  • Provide subject matter expertise, guidance, and solution offering for customer regarding export regulations, loading methods, crating, handling freight, and special equipment availability.

 

Coordinate and liaise with YLA branch operations and customers:

  • Liaise with the branch operations team on behalf of the customers.
  • Coordinate with the credit department to establish lines of credit for new accounts and

  • Provide reports on rates, use of carriers, and significant operational problems.
  • May assist, communicate, and follow up with other U.S. and foreign offices regarding targeted or joint customers.
  • Proactively establish and maintain effective working team relationships with all branch operations departments.
  • Participates and contributes to the development of educational programs offered to clients.
  • Maintains accurate records of all sales and prospecting activities, including sales calls, presentations, closed sales, and follow-up activities within CRM.
  • Participate in local business activities and events to gain networking opportunities and expose the local market to the Yusen brand and value proposition.
  • Coordinate with operations to manage the account receivable to ensure it stays current and help operations collect account receivables within the terms set forth.  

Qualifications

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related logistics field preferred and/or five or more years of related experience in freight forwarding, International Operations, logistics, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • High level of organizational and time management skills
  • Is a self-starter that displays strong customer interaction and is customer centric.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills including being persuasive and influential with customer contacts.

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
  • Travel overnight as required up to 35-40%.
  • Interact with employees and customers in an appropriate manner.
  • Use a computer for tasks such as making updates to CRM, communicating via email and voice.
  • Present to customers and other stakeholders in a professional and effective manner.
  • Comply with all Company policies and procedures.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
